Sample itinerary
Day 1
In the afternoon you will depart from the U.S. on your flight to London.
Day 2
Arrival at London’s Heathrow Airport in the morning. Transfer by coach to the first-class Millennium Gloucester Hotel, located just a few blocks from Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. After check-in, some refreshing tea and biscuits, and a short time for relaxing, you will be taken on a private coach tour of London. The evening will be free.
Day 3
In the morning, you will divide into small touring groups of 10 and meet with your guides for your own personalized tour of London. Some of the sights today might be St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London and Tower Bridge or maybe time to just wander in and out of the many meandering streets and lanes of some of the older parts, just to get a feeling for the way London used to be in times gone by. In the afternoon, there will be visits to a selection of some of the most famous museums in the world: The British Museum’s Egyptian collection; the new "Tate Modern" along the Thames; the Victoria & Albert Museum’s grand costume section, or the venerable National Portrait Gallery. Tonight, you will be seeing a new West End Musical Production.
Day 4
After meeting with your guides again, you’re off to the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace. It’s then a short walk to Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament and Trafalgar Square. The perfect place for lunch is the newly renovated Covent Garden. In the afternoon, a backstage tour of the Royal National Theatre is scheduled followed by a walking tour of the West End Theatre District. Your show tonight will be a new West End drama.
Day 5
A visit to Windsor Castle is scheduled for today. Located just outside London, Windsor Castle is the largest inhabited castle in the world. It is the Queen’s official residence and was built by William the Conqueror in 1066 after his victory at the battle of Hastings. The castle was closed to visitors after the devastating fire of 1992. After a $63 million renovation, it re-opened in The damaged rooms gleam with gold gilt, sparkling chandeliers and silk damask wall coverings; and more parts of the castle are now open to the public than before the blaze. Upon returning to the hotel, afternoon tea will be served along with a theatre discussion by a leading theatre personality. Your show tonight will be a new production at the Royal National Theatre.
Day 6
Today can be set aside for some of London’s wonderful museums and shops. Visit the British Museum’s Egyptian collection, the new Tate Modern along the Thames, the Victoria & Albert Museum’s grand costume section, or the new museum of wine, Vinopolis. If your passion is shopping, you couldn’t have chosen a better time with London’s famous "After-Christmas Sales".In the evening
you will have to take advantage of the numerous events scheduled scheduled to welcome in the New Year...be it in Trafalgar Square or on the banks of the River Thames.
Day 7
In the morning, it’s off to Stratford-upon-Avon, home of William Shakespeare. After passing through the beautiful scenery just outside of London, you will immediately feel how England’s countryside is different from the hectic pace of its capital. There will be a walking tour of this beautiful historic town, visiting Shakespeare’s birthplace and Stratford’s secluded and quiet church. Afterwards, we'll be traveling a short distance to visit Warwick Castle, the most well preserved midieval castle in England. We'll be arriving back to London in the early evening.
